The bet paid off! Beyond expectations
The 59th UITP World Congress and Exhibition hosted by Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) closed its doors on 14 April with results that surpassed expectations. The nine winners of the PTx2 awards are but a few examples of the community commitment to the UITP ambition.
The first UITP World Congress and Exhibition held in the MENA Region was attended by 2,000 delegates coming from 80 countries. The exhibition gathered 252 exhibitors from 37 countries on 30,000 m2 and was visited by 9,700 visitors. Many Ministers, elected officials, CEOs and high-level executives from authorities, industry and operators were present.

Hartmut Schick, Head of Daimler BusesThe 2009 UITP exhibition in Vienna was extremely successful: the industry presented sustainable public local transport solutions and as such pointed the way towards the future. I was particularly pleased to be able to meet our young Y4TP members. It’s a great deal of fun working with these people and seeing the motivation which they have and how they apply themselves to developing new ideas for public local transport. I am extremely proud of them and very pleased that we - as part of the UITP - are supporting such a worthy youth project.
